Just watched all three episodes of the new series The Way.....fantastic stuff...episode one sets the scene and you need to stick with it and you will be very well rewarded by what comes after.
On another thread we were talking about "wad some power the giftie gie us"....this fits that bill superbly.
Firstly, if you did not see Question Time last night, do yourself a favour and get onto BBC Iplayer, very entertaining.
Now, Crime series 2 by Irvine Welsh is now available on STV, I have downloaded all six episodes, but have not had time to start watching yet, will do so inthe next few days.
Do not know if you have seen Annika yet, Glasgow Marine Police programme with a difference, series 1 had 6 episodes, and I enjoyed that, series 2 has just started on Alibi (will probably also come across to one of the mianstream BBC channels later on)....I think you might enjoy it.
The more I see of this programme the more I am liking it, I now find myself trying to fit in the next line of dialogue in advance, great fun when you are wrong.
Once Upon A Time in Londongrad on Sky Documentaries, 6 episodes about the Russian effecr on London, with Scot Young from Dundee right in the centre of things, well worth a watch.
Do not know how I missed this first time around, but currently watching Crime by Irvine Welsh, and it is superb, great cast , great story and the dialogue is..... well Irvine Welsh !!!!!
The newspaper article just said series 2 availabler on ITVx from Thursday...I had a look yesterday and no sign, but fully expect it to be there when I check on Thursday.
Well, as an Endeavour fan, I thought the last season wrapped nicely. Lots of little gems in the last episode. I look forward to going back and watching from the beginning again. I really enjoyed it. Ironically I tried to watch Morse (I never saw it originally) and found it dated and dull.
I remember loving Morse back in the day but I tried to watch one recently and agree with you - I couldn't finish the episode. Endeavour was excellent throughout.
Anyone UK folks watched 'The Walk In'? Stephen Graham was as excellent as ever, but I thought the guy who played Robbie, Andrew Ellis, really nailed it as a lonely, not terribly bright lad getting dragged into right wing politics. Not a brilliant series, but interesting enough.
Reboot, a series on Hulu. With a killer cast including Keegan-Michael Key, (a shockingly good) Johnny Knoxville, Rachel Bloom, Judy Greer and Paul Reiser, it's about a terrible (fictitious) sitcom from the 80s/90s reuniting the original cast, but with an edgier take. Three episodes in and it started really good but just keeps getting better.
Did two "tours of duty" with work during the boom years of the 70`s and 80`s and really loved the place, went by ferry both times, in those days it was the St Clair which would later become a football ferry to Gothenburg. Second tour we stayed at the most northerly hotel in Britain The Hagdale Lodge, which I understand is no longer there, those long summer nights were just great and at weekends there was a regatta at a different location each week. Worked hard, played hard and made many friends during this time, always promised I would go back for a look one day, but so far it has not happened....where does the time go ?
So we're nearly done with the fifth season of Shetland. Loved the first three seasons, liked the fourth, but wow. Unless they really pull a rabbit out in the final episode, I cannot believe how this season has gone downhill. I see that they've still mainly got the same main writers, so I don't understand what the hell happened.
I loved Paper Girls. It got more intriguing with every episode so I'm looking forward to the second season.
I took a chance on Outer Range and I'm loving this show. A Wyoming rancher discovers an otherworldly, perfectly round hole in his west pasture. I haven't figured out this show yet, and that's a good thing. I was treated to a surprise playing of State Trooper in episode three.
I suspect these have already been mentioned, but I'm having trouble navigating, so...
We're about halfway through the Apple+ show For All Mankind and it's every bit as good as I'd always heard.
The same goes for Severance, starring Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette. Christopher Walken and John Turturro, only even more so.
I know Apple+ is pretty low on everyone's list of streaming services, but if you've never watched any of their offerings, I highly recommend you put Netflix or Hulu on pause for a month and binge Apple TV's offerings.
Anyone else eagerly awaiting the return of Peaky Blinders? First episode is going to be a very sad farewell to Aunt Polly I think (the much missed Helen McCrory)
Episode 2 was fantastic. A deeper look into the Tuscan Raiders, an old-west style train robbery and there's now a motorcycle club in Star Wars. Full patch alien bikers with speeder bikes!
The Tourist. First episode was a corker, I thought. 🤞it’s maintained and the final episode is credible. Wrapped up last year with Frankie Boyles 2021 review. Appropriately grim, cringe inducing and hilarious. Not for those of a sensitive disposition.
Started to watch the new Harlan Coben on Netflix - Stay Close. Simply dreadful - it's moved from New Jersey to Blackpool, ffs! James Nesbit is James Nesbit, how he succeeds as an actor is beyond me, Sarah Parish was ok, but most of he rest of the cast were so wooden.
I really like Harlan Coben's books, but I have only seen one really good dramatisation and several turkeys!
First season of The Wheel Of Time is done. Long wait begins for season two. After the disappointing The Witcher and Shannara, I'm glad to find a high fantasy series of quality.
We have a service called Binge in Australia on which I've found a series from 1998 called 'From The Earth To The Moon'.
It's a dramatisation of the Apollo space program, with each episode covering a different mission. What keeps it interesting is each episode takes a different angle or narrative focus, so they all have their own individual feel and flavour.
As a bit of a space need, I'm not sure how I missed this back in the day. Perhaps it was either never shown on TV here in Australia, or it was tucked away in a late timeslot somewhere.
Nevertheless, really enjoying it and it stands up pretty well visually. Tom Hanks is involved as a producer I think from the credits, and does a little spoken intro before each episode.
Finished Unforgotten a few nights ago. What a shocker that was. Out of nowhere.
Started one of Nicola Walker's newer series last night, Annika. Loving it. It's her in a similar and familiar role, but, well, with a slight twist which is really great fun once you get into it. Brilliant.
I found a trailer on YT but, IMO, it has too many spoilers. I'm glad I started watching without having seen that first.
Britbox became available to us in SA a few months ago. Had it a few weeks now and its fast overtaking Netflix as the go to place for telly for us. So much great stuff. I'm somewhat enamored with Nicola Walker and they have tons of her work. Watching season 1 of Unforgotten at the moment. Thoroughly enjoying it, including seeing Sanjeev in a great non-comedic role.
I am sure some of you must be watching Get Back? We have watched the first one and it is utterly compelling. I think you probably have to really like The Beatles, but watching the group dynamics is fascinating.
@whispered secret it's been mentioned briefly on a couple of other threads... But no dedicated discussion. I finished it a couple of nights ago. I want to rewatch certain parts this weekend... If you're a Beatles fan, it's essential viewing. As a music fan, a lover of music, I still think it's essential viewing. There is so much about it that amazed or interested me. Just the whole fly on the wall aspect of seeing what happened over half a century ago, boggles my mind.
Watching Paul create a song (on a bass guitar, no less) from nothing into a great classic rock song... Wow.
I don't think this is really a spoiler as such, but the last hour or so of the final episode, to finally see that performance, in pretty much real time, as if it was filmed last week, I think I sat there with mouth open and wide eyed. I couldn't help but think how something like this would have blown my dad away, who was the Beatles fan that made me one in the first place.
It’s on Prime, which I recently dumped, but someone suggested it wasn’t free, have to pay an additional fee? Anyone confirm? I’m guessing if they’re charging for previous series it’s on the back of it being currently popular due to S6. Might wait a bit if that’s the case. If you look after the pennies etc. Genetic! Anyhow, that final episode was ace. Not having seen any previous series it took me a while to realise the Killick strand was probably ongoing, rather than a red herring or potentially tying into the resolution of S6.
Watched episode one of Amazon's The Wheel Of Time. Enjoyed it immensely. I love high fantasy, but it's so often done poorly on television. I think the success of Game Of Thrones has benefited the entire genre. Not knowing anything of the book series, I'm looking forward to following the rest of The Wheel Of Time and its quality bodes well for Amazon's upcoming The Lord Of The Rings series.
Episode 4 finally dropped tonight. Funny how the digital television age and binge watching have made the old standard of an episode a week seem like a long wait, but I really do prefer when they drop that way. I binge watch favorites when the season comes out and then the wait for the next season is so long.
Anyway, I'm loving this show. I haven't looked up anything on the source material because I don't want to come across any spoilers, but I think the book series may be in the young adult genre, but the television series doesn't play that way at all. Smartly written, quality production values, excellent acting. And powerful women of magic are sexy.
@SteveInJoburg we watched it last night too. I really feel I need to go back and watch some of the others now, especially the one where the woman who committed suicide (whose name has gone!) was found guilty of murder. What a nasty piece of work she turned out to be!
@whispered secret Donna Killick! Aye, She was poison... The whole original story with her and her son is definitely worth watching.
I still maintain that the first few seasons of Shetland is some of the best telly I've ever seen. I've watched the first season 3 times, something I very rarely do with a series. Some of the characters in Seasons 3 and 4 are magnificent... Part players who deserve awards for how brilliant they were.
@SteveInJoburg That's it! I just couldn't think of her name this morning. I will definitely try to watch some of the earlier series. Having read the books (which don't feature the Donna Killick story) I should probably try to find out when they stopped being based on the books.
I'll be the lone voice of dissent for Shetland. The storyline is not credible and the vast majority of actors are of amateurish standard. The guy that plays Sandy (the one with the weird eyes and looks) is maybe the worst. Shetland has a very low crime rate (being a remote island) but you wouldn't think it from this series. The whole thing kinda reminds me of Bergerac or Midsummer Murders, neither of which were good.
Watched episode 4 of Shetland series 6 last night. MY GOD IT’S FANTASTIC VIEWING! Looks like I might have to return to Prime for 1-5 if you guys tell me they’re just as good.
I haven't seen episodes 3 and 4 of the current season yet, was saving them for this weekend but, as good as it is, IMHO the first few seasons are much, much better...
@whispered secret I'm really enjoying the current series of Bake Off. Nice group of people this season. Giuseppe (Frank Zappa) and Jurgen have upped the playing field, I thought.
@whispered secret don't know if you caught the finale of GBBO but it was the most entertaining season I've seen in years and I could not have been more thrilled with the outcome. It was lovely.
@SteveInJoburg yes, I agree. I think this has been a good series with a sensible final - sometimes the challenges in final week have been ridiculous, but the Mad Hatters Tea Party was a good theme. I really didn't mind which of the 3 won.
I bloody love Succession. The whole cast is incredible, even the younger or should I say especially the younger brother of the Home Alone star. He's great.
I avoided it for a while since why in the fuckety would I want to spend my time watching a Murdoch-like family?
Yeah, turns out that's actually time very, very well spent. Great show.
@Scott Peterson they are all so dreadful but compelling. My nephew knows someone who worked quite high up in News International and she says it's pretty accurate.
We're going to be finishing up the second season of Billions tonight, I think. Not perfect but very, very good so far, with a killer cast (Paul Giamatti, Damian Lewis, Maggie Siff and Malin Åkerman are the four leads, but the supporting cast is just as good) doing great work.
Just finished watching this again after 40 years! What a great (3) series this was and still is and I think all episodes are on youtube. Anybody else remember this series?
@whispered secret I watched The Long Call over the weekend, it was good. It had the feel of a scene setter, on terms of the characterisations of the cops.
Not sure if more are planned, but it worked good as a stand alone.
Never watched it before so got stuck in to the 1st 2 episodes of the current series last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it, moves at a good lick and cracking backdrops, tho thought some of the acting was a bit wooden at times I thought.
Series 1-5 not on iPlayer unfortunately. 🙁
Might have to add Shetland to my holiday list. I do bleak and windswept. Wall to wall blue sky is over-rated IMO. Orkney this past year, the Uists next, so 2023 perhaps?
Talking of dislikeable characters, Succession! First episode of this series (3?) was excellent I thought, setting everything up nicely for the battles to come. They are all such dreadful people that I don't care who comes out on top, I just enjoy the scheming and back stabbing. Roll on episode 2 today.
I had such a crush on Winnie, played by Danica McKellar. She was also involved in this to some degree, I believe.
She is just as, if not, more stunning today. Married and a mom, she is a math genius who has published books encouraging kids to love and understand mathematics.
Just finished watching the first season of the M Night Shyamalan series, Servant. Extremely engaging, killer performances, gorgeously shot...but not sure how I feel about it yet. Have to watch the second season to know.
Prompted by a reference to them in Paxo’s autobiography, which is surprisingly entertaining. As North Korea are throwing missiles around and the Iranian nuclear scientists are being naughty it might be useful. Or perhaps not.
All 180 episodes of Seinfeld are coming to Netflix worldwide on the 1st of October. I am looking forward to finally watching this show. I've seen episodes here and there, usually in poor quality, so looking forward to watching decent copies in chronological order.
Watched first three of episodes of Nine Perfect Strangers and Melissa McCarthy and Bobby Cannevele are comedic gold in what is mostly a drama/mystery. Nicole Kidman's performance is nothing short of woeful though, horrible fake accent, wooden and her frozen features although they've been there forever, are really a distraction for me. Pretty good so far though and Michael Shannon is also great as always.
Finished it last night. Thanks for the reccomendation. Only thing I wasn't so happy about was the ending, a little too sugary. Alexandra Daddario is very attractive.
@riverdude4 I am a bit astonished that you thought that ending was sugary.
Also, yes, Alexandra Daddario is insanely attractive, but I'm also impressed by how much range she's got—I've seen her in a half-dozen things now, I think, and she's always quite good, and there's been considerable difference in what some of the roles called for. (Admittedly, San Andreas mainly called for her to scream a lot, I think.)
Dug Bosch. Lets see what the spin off is like. They have been busy with it for a while now.
My only gripe was that to show that Maddie is 'all growed up' they had her say the F word about half a dozen times in the last episode... I thought it unnecessary.
@whispered secret and @MagicRatAFC I respect that, I would never force anyone to watch or listen to something or someone they don't like. I'm the same. I really don't like or can't enjoy watching people other folks love. Clarkson has said things over the years I haven't liked, but I always have this memory in the back of my mind that goes back to 2007. Clarkson, Hammond and May used to host a live show called MPH, which later morphed into Top Gear Live. They came back here a few times as it was massively successful and well attended. (Thanks to the TGL show a few years later, I got to say hello to Nick Mason, who had come out with a few of his own cars, and get David Coulthard to sign my copy of his book) That particular show was early in 2007, and only a few months after Hammond had the horrific rocket car crash. We did not think he would come here for the show but he did. I was sat in the front row of the big arena and during the gymkhana segments, the guys would come stand on the edge, right in front of us. We spoke to Hammond, mostly, just saying how happy we were to see him and that he was okay, but I remember Clarkson being as nice and polite as you could imagine. The TV persona is not always the same as the person and I think what I liked about Farm is we saw that far more than before.
@SteveInJoburg There is an article in Radio Times (the TV listings magazine I buy) which is all about his new show. It calls it the remarkable redemption of Jeremy Clarkson. I will read the article later and report back!
Finished watching Clarkson's Farm yesterday. I know he is a polarizing figure but this may be the best thing he has done, next to his documentary about the Victoria Cross.
I think he has brought a lot of positive attention to farmers and farming from this and, sure, as he himself says, they don't have the benefit of an Amazon film crew following them around all day but hats off to him for what he did. Cannot have been easy.
Pleased to see that a second season is on the way.
This came up in my suggestions on Amazon. Mini-documentaries, told by animated versions of those who were there. It's pretty informative and entertaining. Season 1 is country, season 2 is funk.
@whispered secret I recently cancelled both Netflix and Disney. I find myself watching Hulu and Amazon the most. I'm not a huge television watcher so having four streaming services was a waste of money.
@whispered secret Agreed. Old enough to remember being puzzled by why we might want a BBC2. Currently have Netflix & Prime, but not using either to any great extent. Should really dump at least 1 but inevitably as soon as I do so something compelling will be announced. Trying to cut out financing the Bezos ego, so most likely the latter.
I only recently learned you can watch a lot of major network shows on their websites. NBC.com has a large selection of current, recent an vintage shows.
Recently watched the second season of Mythic Quest, along with the quarantine specials, and I am pretty blown away—loved the first season, but the second is even better.
I love the trend of comedians creating, writing, producing and directing their own shows—Bill Hader, Jason Sudeikis and now Robert McElhenney—and doing it brilliantly.
We're about halfway into Hacks, the Jean Smart show, and so far it's fabulous.
Oh, and on the off-chance there's anyone who hasn't heard of Ted Lasso, watch it. Watch it now.
Recently discovered the app for a channel called Acorn TV. very reasonably priced and tons of promising looking British content.
Busy watching a series called Inspector George Gently. It's fair to middling whodunnit stuff but the lead Martin Shaw is really good to watch and the Sixties period cars, clothes, music and places are a joy. Interestingly, it looks to be filmed on location in Ireland.
Yeah really great wasn't it? Kate Winslet really was superb but like you say, the acting all round was strong and that shooting scene in the house was brilliantly filmed.
Now watched all three of "Time", that's some of the most powerful TV you'll see this year.
Jimmy McGovern is just on point on so many different levels here.
He explores morality, the grey areas thereof, redemption/rehabilitation and, of course it being him, he holds a mirror up to the political situation in this country that has left our prison system in the horrific state that it is.
"You're in here AS punishment, not FOR punishment" was the most important line in the series.
@whispered secret We watched it last night. Mrs D is flatly refusing to watch any more, she found it that disturbing. Kept her awake last night. Not easy viewing. Looks like I’ll be using iPlayer for the rest.
Did anyone watch Danny Boy? It got 5 stars in The Guardian, but I found it a bit unsatisfactory. Great acting, especially Toby Jones and some interesting stuff about society's expectations of soldiers.
@whispered secret I would love that too.... So much I'd love to see and appreciate there. I remember being in Ireland in 2016 marveling at a castle hundreds and hundred of years old. There is nothing like that here. And I just cycled up into the courtyard on my brother's mountain bike like it was no big deal!
If our currency ever improves against the Pound, it might become a possibility. Until then...
Four episodes in to Viewpoint and ITV have pulled the final episode due to the allegations against Noel Clarke. It was weird last night watching when the newsflash came on. I have always rather like him, but I have to say the allegations look pretty damning.
I can't help looking at and listening to Kate's tired old US detective character and remembering her on a red carpet some years back, when someone asks her about something she is wearing or tells her she looks stunning and she smiles and says "I've done me bit luv" 😂
Don't even think I saw those, but saw spoilers already on some other site when I looked up reviews, I didn't think it would be THAT big of a spoil. Oh well, still just a great show.
So glad a couple of you mentioned Unforgotten here, I loves me British Crime Dramas and this one is so good - the very humane approach taken is a huge bonus and the lead female detective? She is AMAZING.
Three episodes into the first season of The Sinner on Netflix. Bill Pullman is typically great, if playing an atypical character for him, but damn is Jessica Biel absolutely killing it. Dark stuff, though.
I know what you mean about Nesbitt, he's a bit.......samey, he can be ok but he's one of these actors that only has one schtick and amends it slightly for different roles.
Anyway, haven't watched LoD yet, kind of tempted to save it for a binge, but I know there will be spoilers all over t'internet as it goes along so I reckon we'll go old school and watch it week by week.
Old school is the way to go with this one! I am pleased it isn't all available on iplayer - I enjoy the anticipation! The last two series we have watched the final episode with friends - I am trying to work out whether, in 7 weeks time, we are allowed in each others houses - I think we probably are.
Just watched all three episodes of the new series The Way.....fantastic stuff...episode one sets the scene and you need to stick with it and you will be very well rewarded by what comes after.
On another thread we were talking about "wad some power the giftie gie us"....this fits that bill superbly.
Working through Crime 2, very good.
Also binged The Woman in the Wall, very good watch

This week I watched 11 Minutes on BBC 2 TV,4 episodes, well made but at times harrowing to watch, compulsive viewing.
Do not know how I missed this first time around, but currently watching Crime by Irvine Welsh, and it is superb, great cast , great story and the dialogue is..... well Irvine Welsh !!!!!
1 hour long interview with Brian Cox on BBC Scotland at 11:00 PM ttomorrow night.
And for MRAFC...Billy Bragg is on Question Time tonight.
I like Brian Cox but have never got round to watching it.
Somebody must be watching Succession...
And that will be Season 2 T'ed up then.
It's a dark satire, a less sweary "Veep".
Binging on The Diplomat, very good.
Tip for when watching episodes one a two......it IS a satire.......I think?
Well, as an Endeavour fan, I thought the last season wrapped nicely. Lots of little gems in the last episode. I look forward to going back and watching from the beginning again. I really enjoyed it. Ironically I tried to watch Morse (I never saw it originally) and found it dated and dull.
Anyone else watching The Last of Us? Way too gross for me in small bursts, but the good parts are so damn good.
I'm enjoying the hell out of Daisy Jones & the Six.
Another that I'm Sky+ing for a binge AJ.

Anyone finish Better Call Saul?

I think I'm going to try to save Shetland for a binger.
Hard because of spoilers popping up on news feeds.
New series of Shetland started last night. A good few strands started. Looking forward to seeing how they unravel.
Three episodes into Paper Girls and I'm hooked. It's more fun than Stranger Things.
I suspect these have already been mentioned, but I'm having trouble navigating, so...

We just watched the fourth episode of Under the Banner of Heaven and have found every minute utterly gripping.
And, of course, Barry. Always and forever.
Anyone given Bosch Legacy a go?
Anyone else eagerly awaiting the return of Peaky Blinders? First episode is going to be a very sad farewell to Aunt Polly I think (the much missed Helen McCrory)
I was too quick to judge The Book of Boba Fett.
Episode 2 was fantastic. A deeper look into the Tuscan Raiders, an old-west style train robbery and there's now a motorcycle club in Star Wars. Full patch alien bikers with speeder bikes!
Keep saving Star Wars!
How could The Mandalorian be so good, but the first two episodes of The Book Of Boba Fett so boring?
Stop fucking up Star Wars!
Maybe I'll like it more as I get into the series. Maybe my expectations are too high. Maybe I'm not 12 years old anymore.
The Tourist. First episode was a corker, I thought. 🤞it’s maintained and the final episode is credible. Wrapped up last year with Frankie Boyles 2021 review. Appropriately grim, cringe inducing and hilarious. Not for those of a sensitive disposition.

Just enjoyed the final season of Gomorrah.
Something completely out of left field here.

Answering my own question here re Shetland s1-5: BritBox do it and currently have an introductory 3 month offer, 99p/month.
Sorry, above relates to Shetland!
It’s on Prime, which I recently dumped, but someone suggested it wasn’t free, have to pay an additional fee? Anyone confirm? I think Sandy got the gig purely on the basis of being a native.
With any drama set in a less than urban location there is required a wee bit poetic licence and belief suspension.
I'm saving this season for a binge so haven't watched any yet.
But I have really enjoyed the previous seasons.
I'll be the lone voice of dissent for Shetland. The storyline is not credible and the vast majority of actors are of amateurish standard. Watched episode 4 of Shetland series 6 last night. MY GOD IT’S FANTASTIC VIEWING! Looks like I might have to return to Prime for 1-5 if you guys tell me they’re just as good.
I don't know if "Guilt" was shown throughout the UK or just BBC Scotland.
I've just binge watched (4) season 2.
It's really good.
Season 1 was excellent but season 2 took it up a notch.
Watch it on iplayer, well worth it.
I bloody love Succession. The whole cast is incredible, even the younger or should I say especially the younger brother of the Home Alone star. He's great.
Succession - the best TV drama I’ve watched since The Wire.
I checked out PlutoTV last night and they have a 24 hour dedicated Gunsmoke channel, so I'm like a kid again.
I'm going to try to save all episodes of this for a big binge watch.
I've been to Orkney plenty times but never Shetland, it's supposed to be a fairly bleak, barren place.
But I've heard that Up Helly Aa is the mother of all piss ups.
Watched the first episode of Shetland S06. Love that show. Love the place, really want to go there one day, and love the characters.
Binge watched (four episodes) of Hollington Drive last night.
Not sure what I made of it, mixed bag is the best description.
I don't know if there's ever been a series with a more uniformly dislikeable cast of characters, which I think is intentional.
I'd probably just about recommend.
It was pretty good!
The Wonder Years reboot premiered tonight and it was excellent. First episode was directed by Fred Savage.
Watched episode 2.....it's good.
I’ve just watched the first episode of a mini-series called White Lotus and I’m really enjoying it. It’s funny and leaves you uncomfortable throughou.
Finally caught up with the final season of Bosch and it was pretty damn good.
As an aside, I would not reccomend the BBC latest Baptiste season 2, it was truly awful, plot, acting the lot.
Sex Education back mid September! One of my favourite series of the last few years. 😀
I just can't bring myself to watch him I'm afraid.
Starting McCartney 3 2 1 tonight.
Look what finally just made it to Netflix SA... (and I know the video is the trailer for Season 2, but I mean Season 1...) 😂
Ah, George Gently was a guilty pleasure!
Good watch (if undemanding) and an interesting chronicle of the times.
Finished all 7 episodes of Mare Of Easttown. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent writing, acting and cinematography.
Cannot recommend this highly enough.
Kay, it's a BBC show, not sure if it'll be on iPlayer overseas?
Watched the first episode of "Time" last night.
Dark but compelling.
Jimmy MacGovern is a genius.
Two episodes in, some great music, nothing very new or mindblowing though.
Hard to believe this is half a century ago though.
The Pursuit of Love - oh dear, trivial nonsense, but at least it's a break from murder, war and abortion rights!
Did anyone watch Danny Boy? It got 5 stars in The Guardian, but I found it a bit unsatisfactory. Great acting, especially Toby Jones and some interesting stuff about society's expectations of soldiers.
Watching a British documentary series from a few years ago called Secrets of Great British Castles.
Firstly, I really have to get to the UK one day. So much to see.
And secondly, man people from those isles were a blood thirsty bunch back in the day. Sheesh.
Just watched Three Families.
Incredibly powerful....... and depressing.
I was saving that for a weekend binge but that's gone pear shaped now.
We binged season 3 of Keeping Faith, it was good.
Looks like it's done now, pretty much all loose ends tied.
Four episodes in to Viewpoint and ITV have pulled the final episode due to the allegations against Noel Clarke. It was weird last night watching when the newsflash came on. I have always rather like him, but I have to say the allegations look pretty damning.
Just watched the first episode of Mare of Easttown on Sky Atlantic - looks promising.
I wonder if I am the only one who is excited about the return of Call the Midwife on Sunday...
Don't even think I saw those, but saw spoilers already on some other site when I looked up reviews, I didn't think it would be THAT big of a spoil. Oh well, still just a great show.
Don't read the review I posted higher up, big spoilers
So glad a couple of you mentioned Unforgotten here, I loves me British Crime Dramas and this one is so good - the very humane approach taken is a huge bonus and the lead female detective? She is AMAZING.
Three episodes into the first season of The Sinner on Netflix. Bill Pullman is typically great, if playing an atypical character for him, but damn is Jessica Biel absolutely killing it. Dark stuff, though.
Just saw this
Binge watched 4 of 6 of "Unforgotten" tonight.
This is a good series.......all of them have been.
Last two will be consumed post haste tomorrow.
Just watched episode one.....is there any way to hide spoilers for folks that haven't watched yet?
I'm calling it early.......
Shark not jumped........ repeat........shark not jumped.
Watched "Bloodlines" this weekend.
It was OK but maybe a bit predicable.
Left a window for season 2.
So, countdown is on to "Line of Duty", I think it's a week Sunday it kicks off?
I'm a little worried we could be in "shark jumping" territory, but hopefully not........
A hard watch at times but acting absolutely superb throughout and an absorbing story.
