What movie are you streaming?

Just watched this excellent gothic horror. It's atmospheric, well-written and not your run-of-the-mill werewolf story.

I can't recommend it highly enough.

We are watching Reacher on Prime - far fetched, but enjoyable. I have read a few of the books (Mr J has read them all) and the actor is definitely a good fit.

The Tender Bar is a book that was given to me by a former girlfriend. It was her favorite book and it's a damned good one. I'm watching the film tonight on Prime and so far, it's very good.

Has anyone watched The Many Saints of Newark, the Sopranos prequel? We watched it last night on Amazon Prime and were so disappointed. I would be interested to hear from other Sopranos fans whether they enjoyed it.

Apologies as I didn't stream it in the Netflix/Prime Video sense, but I picked a five film Scorsese box set the other week, and in it was The Last Waltz. Thought I'd watch it tonight and well damn if that wasn't brilliant!

One of my all-time favorite movies just hit Prime so even though I've watched it twenty or so times, I'm watching it now and loving it again.

We saw the new West Side Story yesterday evening, oh my, I loved it. Had tears streaming down my mask when Valentina sang 'Somewhere'.

We finished the second season of The Morning Show the other night and are now trying to decide between the new season of Succession or picking Billions back up. Meanwhile, of course, I binged the hell out of the Beatles Get Back documentary and was leaving feeling like it could have been even longer...

Enjoyed Brotherhood tonight on Prime. A true story about a group of boys at a leadership camp, caught out in a sudden summer storm that capsized their canoe. A good old fashioned drama.

We watched The Father yesterday evening. Excellent acting but I can't say either of us enjoyed it. It was expensive too - £9.95 from Rakuten.

This trailer does the movie no justice but watched Primal Fear last night for the first time in 20 years. Good cast, great movie, Ed Norton is phenomenal. Had forgotten just how good he was in this.

Now the pressure is really on.........

To clarify, I got it free with one of those "seven days for 99p" deals with Prime.

Also, I'd got myself outside a few beers and the thick end of a bottle of a very passable Malbec when I did my amateur Barry Norman act.

We can buy it from Prime for £3.49 I believe - it better be worth my hard earned cash!!

It was on Prime we watched it, not sure if it's get-able elsewhere.

Citizen Kane it ain't, but if you want an undemanding watch, a few laughs with a glass of something in your hand......fill your boots.

This is a fucking awesome, hilarious, feel good movie. Watch it......and I hardly ever say that.

Watched this last night. We'd never heard of Mr Rogers or the TV show but it didn't spoil our enjoyment of the film. Tom Hanks great as usual but so was Matthew Rhys and the rest of the cast. A real feel good movie and one I'd recommend if you feel a bit down.

Watched Nomadland yesterday evening. We thought it was really good, excellent performance from Frances McDormand and some absolutely stunning scenery. I read in one of the reviews that it is a 'love letter to America', and I can see that, albeit a love letter to the landscape and people who live on the margins, but have an indomitable spirit.

One scene had me thinking of a young JF.

Watched 'A Promising Young Woman' yesterday evening. It was good with an excellent performance from Cary Mulligan. Rather strange ending - if anyone else watches it I would be interested in your thoughts.

Watched this last night. Not everyone’s bag, I’d guess. I thought it very good, if desperately sad as bi-polar disorder disrupted a singular talent.

Considering the hoopla around this at the time of release I was somewhat underwhelmed by last nights film:

Enjoyed this immensely. Sam Elliott playing a character that has me wondering if this film was an inspiration for the cowboy actor Western Stars.

Finally got round to watching this -

OTT Tarentino-esque comic book car chases and shoot-em-ups, but possibly one of the coolest movies since Steve McQueen was young.

Corny about the wolf, but it is a Disney movie. Natty does say "shit" a time or two, though, and it's a thoroughly enjoyable movie.

On the Rocks on Apple TV, so boring, a complete waste of 90 minutes!

If you're in a documentary mood, The Secrets of the Saqqara Tomb on Netflix is good. The archaeologists have such a respect and connection to the subject and the finds themselves are breathtaking. The colors and pictographs are visually stunning; you can only sit in awe as they're unveiled.

I just passed a very enjoyable two hours. I came across this on Prime and had a sudden recollection of catching the last hour or so long ago on television. What a cast. Just a great old fashion comedy film.

I watched Mignonnes / Cuties the other day. Decent film and I don’t understand what all the commotion is about.

I‘ve got 30 minutes left to finish Devil All The Time. I’m enjoying it. Good acting all around and you can’t go wrong with that Southern Gothic feel. What did you think of it @Jerseyfornia ?

This was an exceptionally great piece of storytelling.

I couldn't tell you the last movie I watched, think it might've been "Knives Out" which was a fun "romp".

I'm more of a binge watcher of series meantime.

I don't usually stream films as I really like going to the cinema, I enjoy the big screen and not having the distractions of being at home. However, this year being somewhat different, I have watched two films on streaming services, Misbehaviour, which was about the Women's Lib protests at the Miss World contest - very entertaining and Hope Cove which was about the breakdown of a 20 year marriage - a really good story and beautifully acted by Bill Nighy and Annette Benning.

Not a movie, but a 6-part series of 22-minute episodes: Staged, starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen just hit Hulu today, I think. They play more or less themselves as they try to rehearse, over Zoom chats, the play they were supposed to be doing before the global pandemic started and everything got locked down. Watched the first 3 episodes tonight and could not possibly be enjoying it more. Those two guys are absolutely magic together.
