OMG! I have just had a parcel in the post from a friend enclosing all kinds of old Bruce stuff. He has been having a lock down clear out and thought I might find something of interest - something of an understatement! I will scan some of it and post pictures later, but there are some great photos I haven't seen before and copies of old fanzines. 😁

Thank you so much for sharing these. I'll enjoy reading through them a couple at a time. I have to say I prefer the guileless, sentimental articles of yesteryear as opposed to the mostly cynical, unimpressed reviews we get now.
Those are great, thanks.
'The older I get, the more sentimental I get' said he in 1985!!

The guy who sent me this stuff is the most knowledgeable person I have ever met on music. He has worked in the music industry all his life, working with some big names and I always hope he might work with Bruce...
He says things like 'did I tell you about the time Emmylou invited me to her hotel room?' And the really nice thing is that he isn't showing off, it's just the life he has led.
I don't have anything like that, at least I didn't until today! If I had it, I would have chucked it. I am not sure whether saving this stuff is a bloke thing? Mr J has all manner of stuff in boxes under the bed - football programmes, newspaper clippings etc.
I have told him they will have to go if when we move house!
Lots more if anyone's interested.
I'm sure Mrs r would be delighted if I got my huge haul of Bruce DVDs, CDs mags/cuttings and bundled them up for you.
It is great to look over these artifacts though.
Now for some quotes. This one from Point Blank in Spring 1981
Tonight the Forest's packed to the rafters. It's the city's main venue, 8000 seats. The fastest sell out in Belgium rock history; the promoters said they could have sold it out six times. Outside the kids scramble for tickets, the going rate anything from 25 to 100.
He asks for quiet, gets it and launches into a rap. These used to be joyous occasions; stories that made you smile, laugh, feel good, but no more. Recessions and depressions hit everybody bringing out prejudice, fear and hatred. The warning was 'don't betray yourself, don't let it happen to you' and he played 'This Land is Your Land' . Then with a flick of a switch, the lights flare, and the band hit overdrive with a truly epic version of Badlands.
The energy level got higher all the time, the man's power and charisma so,strong, like Robert DeNiro in Mean Streets, but with a Telecaster for a gun!
And from Candy's Room, winter/spring 81
I hadn't realised I was thirsty till I tasted this album. Four sides of pure magic.
This was taken by the friend at Wembley arena in 1981 where he was, in his words 'stalking Bruce!
Here we go.
That sounds really cool!! Can't wait for the pictures 🙂
Ooo, there are crosswords and quizzes and 'spot the difference pictures' . I am in heaven...
