Cool interview with Jon Landau on Backstreets about the whole Broadway thing.
Key take out... they would like to release something 'in a more modest fashion' than a movie from this run of shows. Original SOB album re-released with bonus tracks? Unlikely for mine, as that breaks the whole idea it is a self enclosed single show to be experienced in its entirety. New SOB album part 2 as an official physical release? Again, for me unlikely as that would possibly not return enough to make a decent dollar above the costs of actually producing the product these days. So I think a Nugs release in due course, with maybe a bigger media splash to go with it trying to raise an awareness with audiences beyond the Bruce die-hards that there is a whole series of live Bruce recordings ready to be enjoyed via that medium. Win win for both Bruce Inc and Nugs.
I thought it was this same interview, but quickly scanning it I can't see it.. but an excerpt from some interview I've read the last few days included JL confirming definitely no extension beyond the current run of shows. The theatre they are in will not be available, and there is no interest on their part to re-adapt the show to another venue.
That may be so, but I suspect this is not the end of SOB or a show in similar format. If the time comes when E Street either can't or won't tour but Bruce still has the chops and desire to do so, I could see a version of this either as a few month residency somewhere in Europe, or maybe an actual tour. I guess hoping it comes to the Sydney Opera House in Oz is a step too crazy...
