Time to really narrow down our favourite Bruce songs by choosing from each decade. Decade decided by official release date of an album for example.
Difficult for me for the majority of the decades apart from the 1990s when I had to consider only one album.
So:
1970s Jungleland
1980s Independence Day
1990s Across the Border
2000s Long Walk Home
2010s Moonlight Motel
I can't choose one song yet off LTY. I think it might be Priest, but then it could be Dreams, or it could be Orphans, in fact it could still be any of them...
In case I wanted to be precise: I'll See You In My Dreams
my updated list:
Backstreets
Brilliant Disguise
Streets of Philadelphia
Gypsy Biker
Moonlight Motel
If I Was The Priest
updated list now with a new decade!
70’s - The Promise
80’s - Atlantic City
90’s - Across the Border
00’s - Devil’s Arcade
10’s - Chasin Wild Horses
20’s - Janey needs a shooter
And I reckon the playlist would look a little like this, all 53 songs voted for:
Spirit in the Night
Lost In The Flood
Incident on 57th Street
Thunder Road
Backstreets
Born to Run
Jungleland
Racing in the Street
The Promise
Independence Day
The River

2000s My City of Ruins or Kingdom of Days
2010s The Wall or Moonlight Motel
@SteveInJoburg thanks for doing this! as for the conclusion perhaps the WS album doesn't have a lot of competition. That is surely the case for TGOTJ album. I think it very interesting that Magic has beaten The Rising hands down among Bruce fans despite The Rising being one of Bruce's most well known songs with the general public.
So, just for fun, 20 people have commented with a list so far. For the Seventies, BTR got 12 votes, with the title track and Thunder Road having 4 nods each. Racing is next with 3 votes. For the Eighties, BITUSA got 7 votes, The River 6. Song wise Atlantic City and No Surrender each got 3 nods. For the Nineties, TGOTJ got 14 votes, with the title track taking 6 of those. The 2000’s are the most split, with 5 albums getting votes (if you include Live in NYC) and the bulk went to Magic with 11 votes. Long Walk Home took 4 votes. The really interesting part is the most recent era… 16 nods to Western Stars… And that split between only 3 songs, two of which received 7 votes each. Based on this small sample, it could be assumed that Born To Run, The Ghost of Tom Joad and Western Stars are three of Bruce’s most popular albums! 😊
70's: Thunder road 80's: Independence day 90's: I wish I were blind 00's: Land of hope and dreams (Live in New York City) 10's: Jack of all trades

Haven't been able to get beyond the 70's yet! I have always said Thunder Road is my absolute favourite song in the world ever, but then there's Racing....

The only definite is WS.

00s: Lost in the flood live from LINYC
10s: Western Stars
