@MagicRatAFC Bit of a heads up required on your neck of the woods……
A mate is giving thought to relocating to the Inverness area: Inverness itself or one of the larger towns
close by: e.g. Nairn, Dingwall etc.
Any thoughts on pluses & minuses, areas/towns that are a no-no would be of interest. Currently no car so public transport and local facilities walkable/cycleable will have a bearing on any decision
Keep telling her the East Neuk is much nicer, bu to no avail. 🙄
Cheers
Bud, if she's not running a car, with what you've told me, she's living in Inverness itself.
Anything else is limiting travel wise.
There's a Vue multiplex in town (well outskirts, where I will be spending a fair bit of time in the next few weeks.......that's another story) and there's Eden Court Theatre which has a small cinema, not arthouse as such, but less multiplexy.
Having said that, I believe that Tilda Swinton is involved in curating a film festival in Nairn annually.
Again, better gym options in the town, ditto pool.
I do know a couple of lunatics that do open water swimming in various Lochs, including Loch Ness.
Decent library in town, and one of the best second hand bookstores anywhere.
There's not a massive live music scene in Inverness, Nils played the Eden Court a few years ago, as did Billy Bragg, Chuck Ragan played upstairs at Hootenannys (a decent boozer) again, a wee while ago.
But with the pen picture you paint, she's defo looking at Inverness itself or the immediate environs I'd say.
